PowerJournal Tool #2: Meditation
“Through meditation, the Higher Self is experienced.”
– Bhagavad Gita
Meditation is an ancient practice that can transform you on every level.
When Elizabeth began meditating many years ago, she discovered that when she wrote an Intention for her meditation in her journal, then meditated on it, and used Intuitive Writing to express her Higher Self, she tapped into power to heal her mind, body, and spirit, as well as get new ideas for her books, and strengthen her intuition to guide and protect her on a daily basis.
That’s how she created PowerJournal, by combining Intention, Meditation, Intuitive Writing, and Journaling.
Meditation can seem mysterious and complicated.
It’s not.
It simply means getting still and quiet - so you can literally hear yourself think in this noisy world.
Meditation often feels so good that you don’t want to come out of it; you just want to stay in that floaty dimension where you’re enchanted with visions and ideas and peace and comfort and a deep connection and love for yourself that is indescribable.
But meditation doesn’t always start off that way.
Just like you probably can’t run a marathon without training, most people need some guidance and practice to succeed at meditation.
That’s why we provide guided video meditations — and some live — here at PowerJournal.Life to show you how to do it.
Elizabeth guides you through the first meditation that enables you to speak with your Higher Self. We also have DIY Meditation instructions if you scroll down on this page.
We hope that - if you’ve never meditated before - you will make this a daily practice, because it has a long list of benefits for your mental and physical health, starting with inner peace.
As Buddha said, “Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.”
Meditation:
Reduces stress & anxiety
Slows aging
Cultivates self-awareness
Helps your concentration
Fends off dementia
Improves sleep
Enhances sensuality
Lowers your blood pressure
Alleviates pain
Improves chronic illnesses
The list goes on. Very importantly, meditation takes you to a peaceful place within where you can discover your deepest desires and your soul’s calling.
The PowerJournal experience is all about You, exploring yourself from the inside out, and loving yourself and your life as your most authentic Self, free from concern about other people’s expectations and criticisms.
“Meditation is an essential travel partner on your journey of personal transformation,” says Sarah McLean, author of Soul-Centered: Transform Your Life in 8 Weeks with Meditation (Hay House, 2012). “Meditation connects you with your soul, and this connection gives you access to your intuition, your heartfelt desires, your integrity, and the inspiration to create a life you love.”
HOW TO MEDITATE
If you have a preferred technique for meditation, go for it.
You can also use Elizabeth’s guided meditation at the bottom of this page.
Or you can simply sit in a comfortable position in a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. Keep your journal or computer handy, so you can record ideas and flashes of insights that you receive during meditation.
Rest your hands comfortably on your lap.
Close your eyes.
Breathe deeply through your nose, savoring the sensation of the air cleansing you from the inside out.
Fill up so deeply with each inhale that your belly expands.
Then expel as much of the old air as you can.
Think of something or someone who fills you with pure joy. Allow that feeling to expand from your heart, throughout your entire body, down your arms to your fingertips, down your legs to your toes, and up your neck through your head to your crown.
Imagine that this happy feeling is golden sunshine, sparkling through every cell in your body, saturating you with love and joy.
Placing the tip of your tongue at the roof of your mouth between your front teeth and that little hump stimulates your parasympathetic nervous system and helps you relax.
If you’d like, repeat “Om,” and savor the cleansing, relaxing feeling of the sound vibrating through you and around you. Doing this over and over is an extremely relaxing way to clear your mind, calm your body, and tap into your Higher Self before you begin your PowerJournal exercise.
Below are two videos in which Elizabeth explains how Meditation is an integral part of PowerJournal. The first video offers a quick explanation. The second video is a Meditation that you will be using every day before your PowerJournal exercise.
