PowerJournal Tool #1: Intention

“Our intention creates our reality.”

–Wayne Dyer

For the first month of PowerJournal, you’re exploring the questions,

Who am I?

What do I want?

Am I ready for change?

How do become my best Self and create my most desirable Life?

Each question sets the Intention for your PowerJournal Exercise that day.

This thinking and writing formula will assist you outside of your PowerJournal exercises to live in a spirit of intention.

That means being really deliberate and strategic about everything you do, because it all adds up to your life.

“Wait, let’s step back,” Elizabeth often asks Catherine, and vice versa, during conversations.  “What is our intention with this project?”

Without a clear intention, your focus can zig-zag all over. You’ll waste time and energy. And you and will not achieve the best outcome.

Once we focus our intention, we create a clear path to achieving it.

So what is an intention?

It’s a goal — the desired outcome for a certain action.

But it’s more than that.

First, an intention is a deep commitment to yourself that you will apply discipline, persistence, and unrelenting action to reach the goal.

Second, an intention provides a big picture vibe. So rather than say, “My goal is to finish writing this book,” saying the word “intention” evokes something bigger.

For example: “My intention is for this book to serve as a tool that motivates people to change unhealthy habits.” Then, while writing, the intention will manifest in using only words and messages that convey that intention.

The great teacher Wayne Dyer once said, “Our intention creates our reality.”

That’s why “intention” is the first tool in the PowerJournal process.

At the top of every PowerJournal entry, you write the word “Intention” followed by a colon, then you write what your Intention is.

We are actually giving you the Intention by providing a Daily Exercise. The question at the start of the Exercise is your Intention.

You hold that Intention throughout the PowerJournal session: as you Meditate; as you engage in Intuitive Writing; and as you continue to Journal. Your Intention serves as your focal point so that you can dive deep into a specific question and get the best answers.

This exercise will enable you to cultivate the habit of setting an Intention during your day-to-day life, to achieve the best possible outcomes in business, relationships, travel, workouts, and everything you do.
